Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Creators, we’ve got some exciting updates to help you earn even more from your games!
This year, in just 7 months of testing, we’ve already shared $208,000 USD with HypeHype creators, and we’re making things even better with frequent updates based on your feedback.
NEW: Maximize Your Revenue with In-Game Purchases
In-game purchases are now a game-changer, giving creators more control over how they earn from their games. By combining engaging gameplay with well-designed in-game purchases, creators can attract more players and significantly boost their total earnings. Creators who have implemented in-game purchases are already seeing up to 30% of their total earnings come from purchases, showcasing the growing importance of this revenue stream.
- Bonus in-game purchase boost: The first purchases in your game by anyone will earn your game up to 4x more HypeCash earnings as a bonus. You can earn up to 160 additional HypeCash per player per game.
- Verified creators: Verified creators can now add in-game purchases right from the start—no need to reach Level 10.
If you haven’t added in-game purchases yet, now is the time to explore how they can enhance your revenue potential.

NEW: Earn Additional Bonuses from Remixing
Having your games remixed by the community—or creating a remix yourself—are exciting ways to grow your earnings!
When games are remixed, the entire remix family benefits. Both the original game (parent) and the remixed games (children) can earn additional bonuses from engagement-based earnings and in-game purchases. And all remix bonuses are paid on top of the game’s normal earnings, making remixing and collaborating even more rewarding!
Family bonus earnings:
- 10% bonus based on earnings from other family members is paid to the original game (parent) if there’s only one parent and child, and both games are Level 10+.
- If the direct parent is under Level 10, the 10% bonus goes to the highest-level ancestor in the remix family (e.g., grandparent) that is Level 10+.
Child contribution bonuses:
- 5% bonus based on the original parent game’s earnings is distributed among the best-performing members of the remix family that are Level 10+ and actively generating revenue.
- If multiple children and grandchildren exist, the bonus is divided among the family members who meet these criteria.
For example, if your game earns 100,000 HypeCash and another creator remixes it into their own game that earns 80,000 HypeCash, and both games are Level 10 or higher, your game (parent) can earn an additional 10% bonus (8,000 HypeCash) from the remix, while the remixed game (child) can earn a 5% bonus (5,000 HypeCash) from your game’s earnings. Both games can benefit from extra payouts.
Monetisation System Updates
We’ve updated our Engagement Points (EP) system to better reflect how players engage and make purchases in your games.
- Games with high engagement and accessible in-game purchases rank higher on the Top Charts and attract more players.
- Adding features like social multiplayer, live events, and in-game purchases that provide value to players can significantly boost both your EP and total earnings.
For the best earnings and top chart rankings, focus on combining both gameplay and monetisation:
- Engage players with compelling gameplay that keeps them returning (e.g., social play, events, and quests).
- Include in-game purchases like currency, power-ups, donations, and player skins to drive additional revenue.
Thank You for an Amazing Start!
This has been our first 7 months of monetisation, and we’re still in beta testing. Your feedback has been essential in shaping our monetisation system and updates, and we’re incredibly grateful for the creators who’ve joined us on this journey.
As we look ahead to 2025 and beyond, we’re excited to focus even more on in-game purchase revenue as a key part of creator success. We’re also exploring ways to help you bring new players into your games from outside HypeHype, with plans to incentivize promotion in the future.
Thank you for being part of the HypeHype community—let’s keep creating, building, and earning together!
All games published on HypeHype start earning rewards automatically and take part in the challenges.

Yes! We have already shared over $96,000 USD in the first 4 months with the creators via the engagement-based payout program and over $100,000 USD via dozens of game jams!
Once you have earned $200 USD from all your published HypeHype games combined, including both engagement-based payouts and in-game purchases, you will be able to request a cash out from your HypeHype account.
You can also spend some of your earnings inside HypeHype.
*You are allowed one completed cash out request per calendar month.
October 7th, 2024, we moved to a new system for engagement-based payouts that emphasizes return play sessions more. So far we have paid by playtime per game, but now we will add a play session multiplier for the playtime.
The payout is based on both playtime and a session multiplier. The more sessions a player plays, the higher the payout multiplier. For example, a player’s 3rd play session pays creator 10x more per minute as their 1st session!*
We're making these changes as they will benefit both the creators and HypeHype. We've calculated that TOP games can potentially earn 30% more with the new engagement system.*
We also believe these changes will drive bigger and better games, by incentivizing game features that bring players back on following days and regularly instead of single marathon sessions.
Here's a breakdown of the key payout details:
Base Playtime Rate: $0.12 USD per hour of play (per game)
Session Multiplier: The session number (e.g a 3rd session for this player) brings a multiplier for the base rate of the playtime:
Playtime x session multiplier earns for each game in the following way:
Play session | Session multiplier |
---|---|
1st session | x 0.10 multiplier to base playtime rate |
2nd session | x 0.50 |
3rd session | x 1.0 |
4th session | x 2.0 |
5th session | x 3.0 |
6th session | x 4.0 |
7th session | x 5.0 |
8th session | x 6.0 |
9th session | x 7.0 |
10th session | x 8.0 |
11th session | x 9.0 |
12th+ session | x 10.0 |
For example: if a player plays 30 minutes in their 4th session of the game, that generates 30/60 * 2.0 x $0.12 USD = $0.12 USD of engagement-based income. If the player plays 30 minutes on their 12th session, that session generates 30/60 * 10.0 x $0.12 USD = $0.60 USD of engagement-based income.
The game metrics page for each game on HypeHype shows information about the performance, and insights how creators can improve their earnings.
We reserve the right to change these terms as HypeHype develops forward. This page will always reflect the latest terms.
*HypeHype Inc. reserves the right to remove any suspicious playtime or player activity from engagement based playtime at its sole discretion. Estimates and projections of earnings are based on our internal calculations and are subject to change based on games, player engagement and platform activity. We’ve calculated that the Top 50 games can earn 30% more with this new engagement system (September, 2024).

Every game starts earning automatically.
We announced some big improvements to how creators can earn from their games on HypeHype. These changes are designed to boost your earnings and incentivize players to return to your games over time. Here’s what’s new:
1. Engagement-Based Payout System Update
Starting Monday, October 7th, we’re moving to a new system that will reward creators based on both playtime and return play sessions. The more players come back to your game for additional sessions, the more you’ll earn.
Why this change?
This system encourages game mechanics that bring players back for more, like daily rewards and in-game events. It’s not just about one long session anymore—it’s about keeping players engaged for the long haul.
How does it work?
The payout will be based on playtime and a session multiplier. The more sessions a player plays, the higher the payout multiplier. For example, a player’s 3rd play session pays creator 10x more per minute as their 1st session!
Bigger rewards for creators
We’ve calculated that the Top games can earn 30% more with this new engagement system and even more after implementing features that incentivise players to return more.*
We believe these changes will drive bigger and better games by incentivizing game features that keep players coming back regularly.
2. In-Game Purchase Update
Effective immediately, in-game purchases are now much more valuable for creators. From now on, all HypeX purchases made in your game will directly contribute to your real cash earnings. We’ve calculated that creators could see a 500% increase in real cash earnings from in-game purchases!*
How can I add in-game purchases to my game?
Once your game reaches Engagement Level 10, you unlock the ability to add in-game purchases. These can be anything—skins, abilities, currency, power-ups, boosts, or unlocks—you decide. You can implement them using a simple node, allowing players to use HypeX in your game, which boosts your earnings.
How much revenue can I earn from in-game purchases?
Creators will now receive 85% of the revenue from in-game purchases. That leaves 15% to cover HypeHype's ongoing services and operating costs, and future-looking investments in the platform.
These creator monetisation updates are designed to boost your earnings and make in-game purchases a more significant part of your monetization strategy.
*Estimates and projections of earnings are based on our internal calculations and are subject to change based on games, player engagement and platform activity. We’ve calculated that the Top 50 games can earn 30% more with this new engagement system (September, 2024).
We feel you. Jumping on to a new product always requires a leap of faith.
However, jumping in early means your games and you as a creator will get a headstart. Your games start making money today with less competition.
Once HypeHype is globally available, your games will be ready for big audiences which also potentially means much bigger payouts.
Making and releasing games in HypeHype is a lot faster than traditional game development and engines so it is really effortless to just try it out with your phone, tablet or desktop.
HypeHype is not currently set-up to allow creators to export their games to other platforms on their own, however we are open to exploring this possibility on a case by case basis.
If you have a successful game in HypeHype and there is potential for it beyond our platform we are happy to discuss how you might export your game, for example, to consoles.
While the app has not been set-up for this purpose it is technically feasible and we have experience in this area taking our first mobile game, BADLAND, to all consoles and desktops.
At this point we don’t make money.
This is on purpose as we are still in early access and building the foundation of HypeHype together with you.
Our goal is to drive as much money to you and creators as possible while we develop, maintain, and improve HypeHype.
We're constantly developing and updating the tools and technology that powers the platform and empowers our creator community.
During the early access we might need to modify the system rules and eligibility requirements at any time and for any reason.
We are very much open to feedback!
HypeHype Inc., formerly Frogmind, are the developers of HypeHype, the BADLAND series, Badland Brawl, Rumble Stars Football and Rumble Hockey.
We are located in Helsinki, Finland, and operate independently in a long-term partnership with Supercell, which recently invested 13M EUR to accelerate and expand the development of our company and HypeHype.
HypeHype Inc. has already grown into a team of 50 developers working on the HypeHype platform, and we are looking for more awesome people to join our ambitious journey of enabling anyone to become a creator of games.
At this time, we are capping the combined monthly creator earnings to a maximum of $100,000 USD per month.
To avoid abuse (eg. by bots), we are capping the engagement-based payout playtime per device and user per game to 5 hours per day and reserve the right to remove suspected bot user accounts from the reward calculations.
Over time we will improve tracking metrics based on your, creator and player feedback.
The listed payment rates are subject to change as HypeHype develops forward.
We reserve the right to change these terms as HypeHype develops forward. This page will always reflect the latest terms.
